Meet the Maker:

Johnston Machine Co.

Johnston Machine Co. is every culinary innovator and risk-takers’ paradise. The space houses a fabrication facility that conceptualizes, prototypes and tests new cooking tools. For generations the Johnston family has maintained a heritage of culinary innovation. In the late 1800s Herbert L. Johnston helped pioneer what became the modern Kitchen Aid mixer and Hobart Manufacturing has been established as a worldwide leader in foodservice equipment. Today, Joe Johnston, his great-grandson and the founder of Barnone, is upholding that tradition with the Machine Co.

The shop welcomes professional kitchen chefs and serious amateurs to brainstorm and share their ideas. The open design and manufacturing floor displays a maze of hand-drawn blueprints, automated milling machines and a retail space.
